一、.expect,want, mean, intent, plan, hope,consider,wish,promise,suppose,think、design、desire等动词可以用来表示过去想要、打算、计划、希望做某事，但实际未做。有以下二种形式：

1、用过去完成时态，后接从句或动词不定式一般形式

2、用一般过去式后接动词不定式完成时态

I had wanted to come, but I was too busy.=

I wanted to have come, but I was too busy.

我本来是想过来，但是我太忙了。

We had hoped to see more of Shanghai, but time didn’t permit.=

We hoped to have seen more of Shanghai, but time didn’t permit.

我们本来希望在上海多看些地方,但是时间不允许。

Tom had meant to come, but something happened.=

Tom meant to have come, but something happened.

汤姆本想来,但有事就没有来。

当时，在现代英语，特别是美国英语中，mean和intend的过去时+to do

也能表示为实现的愿望：

I meant to phone you,but I forgot.我本想给你打电话的，可是我忘了。

I intended to catch the early train, but I got up late.

我本打算赶上早班火车，但是我起床晚了。

二、具体到would like/love to do 想要做某事

would like中的would是委婉说法，并不表示过去，而是表示现在希望做某事，后接to do不定式表示将来要做的事，还没有发生。

如果不定式用完成体，则表示不定式的动作是过去的动作，希望/想要做某事但并未做成，就意味着这件事实际并没有做。

would like to have done=would have liked to do含义相同；因此:

1.一般式用法：

Much as I would like to stay, I really must go home.

尽管我想留下来，但我确实必须回家。

I would like to acknowledge my debt to my teachers.

我想向我的老师表达我的感激之情。

We would like to apologize for the delay.

我们愿对延迟表示歉意。

Lastly, I would like to thank my parents for all their support.

最后，我想感谢父母对我的全力支持。
