We bought the car although it was old.

Although it was dark, he still worked in the field.

Although the sun was shining it wasn’t very warm.

Although small, the kitchen is well designed.

Although/Even though/Though everyone played well, we lost the game.

We lost the game, although/even though/though everyone played well.

He wouldn’t take an umbrella although it was already raining.

He wouldn’t take an umbrella though it should rain cats and dogs.

Though [Although] it was raining,we went there.

Though [Although] it was barely four o’clock, the lights were already on.

Though [Although] we are poor, we are still happy.

Urgent as/though the message is,it is impossible to send it there in time.

(=Though the message is urgent,it is impossible to send it there in time.)

Child as/though he was,he faced the dangerous situation calmly.

(=Though he was a child,he faced the dangerous situation calmly. )

Poor though I am, I can afford it.(Though I am poor, I can afford it.)

Child though he was, he did quite well. (Though he is a child, he did quite well.)

Hard as/ though he works, he makes little progress. (=Though he works hard, he makes little progress.)

Our team lost. It was a good game though.

We are still friends, though, which is good.

He said he would write to her. He didn’t,though.

It’s hard work; I enjoy it though.

He is looking fit, though.

You can count on him, though.

的影响,常犯though(although)之后与并列连词but连用的错误。

Though the idea may be dead, but it is far from being buried. (错)

Though the idea may be dead, it is far from being buried.

Although he is considered a great writer,(still) his works are not widely read.

Though he is poor, yet he is satisfied with his situation.

Though [Although] admission was free ,nevertheless few people attended the lecture.

Alhough he was ill,yet/still/nevertheless he managed to look careful.

Though the sore be healed ,yet a scar may remain.

(六)even though/even if引导的让步状语从句,although却不可以这样用

I’ll get there even if/even though I have to walk all the way.

Even if he is poor, she loves him.

Even though he is poor, she loves him.

(七)在 as though(好像,仿佛),even though(尽管,纵然)等固定短语中不能用 although:

Rusty nodded as though she understood the old woman

She closed her eyes as though she were tired.

We felt as though we had witnessed the whole thing.

They look as though they’re heading for divorce.

He looks as though he hasn’t had a square meal for weeks.

She wouldn’t change it, even though she knew it was wrong.

He is an honest man, I must say, even though I have opposed him.
